Designed by Marc Lombard, the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 349 is the perfect combination of performance, comfort and safety at sea. She is a comfortable cruiser, perfect for couples and young families. Although one of the smallest yachts in the Sun Odyssey family she offers everything you need in a cruising boat.
Some of the highlights of this fantastic monohull include:
- Deep draft or winged shoal keel and twin rudders give performance and lift
- A hard chine along the hull adds stability when sailing
- Bright, well lit and spacious interior
- Low profile cabin top gives her smooth lines and a sleek look
- Choice of cabin layouts.
Outside style and performance
From the very first glance, the Sun Odyssey 349 captivates with her pure lines. The hull has a hard chine that runs from well before the mid-ships all the way aft adding stability underway. She has a reverse deck sheer adding to the sleek look but importantly increases interior volume.
The standard model features a deep draft 6ft 6in keel with an option of a winged shoal draft keel drawing 4ft 10in. The twin rudders give fabulous tracking and ‘feedback’, making her a real joy to helm.
The twin wheel configuration and no backstay gives a clear walkthrough to the companionway through the spacious cockpit. The wide swim platform offers easy boarding and the extra outside living space this platform adds at anchor is impressive.
Sprayhood and bimini with led lighting is included a there is an electric windlass at the bow.
Under sail and power
The Seldén fractional rig supports double aft-swept spreaders and carries a standard mainsail and 110% genoa giving almost 600 square feet of sail area. A dacron in-mast furling mainsail is an option.
On deck, Jeanneau uses friction rings rather than tracks and fairleads for the genoa sheets. The “Y” bridle mainsheet also uses friction rings, eliminating the need for a traveller, so that the rigid vang becomes the primary means of controlling twist in the leach.
Harken winches are in easy reach, two primary and two on the coach-roof. With a full array of Raymarine electronics and all the sail controls led neatly to the cockpit she is a breeze to sail short-handed.
The Yanmar 21HP delivers over 6 knots at 2,900 rpm and she is responsive and easy to handle under power.
Functionality and Style below
There are two versions, 2 or 3 cabins and 1 head. The master cabin forward has a V-berth with the water tank underneath. The two-cabin version has a double berth aft and extra lazarette storage to port. There is a larger head with separate shower stall. A double door to the master cabin, when open, expands the overall feeling of space below. With the 3 cabin option, there are two double berths aft and the slightly smaller head is set to port.
The saloon has an impressive 6ft 3in of headroom and includes a folding table with plenty of seating. When the table is folded, the space in the saloon opens up nicely. There is a dedicated aft facing Navigation station that uses the saloon settee as a seat
The L-shaped galley to starboard is compact and functional with a single sink near the centerline, a two-burner stove and top-loading refrigeration.
High-quality woodwork accents an incredibly bright, well-lit interior.
