The Nautitech 541 is a very comfortable cat with an impressive level of performance, both under sail and power. She is great for large groups on charter or for a family and/or crew looking for long-distance sailing.
Aside from the helm positions the Nautitech 541 and 542 are identical; luxurious and spacious with the sail controls at the helm station. The 541 has an offset semi-raised helm on the port side and integrated with the cockpit, while the 542 has the signature Nautitech helm stations at the aft end of the port and starboard hulls for increased performance sailing.
There is a flexible sail-plan but the standard mainsail is easily controlled from the helm positions and the self-tacking jib adds to the ease of short-handed sailing. When sailing the combination of the boat’s narrow hulls and low profile allowed it to slice through the chop with much less roll than a more top-heavy boat.
Wide spacious decks with flush hatches and decent groove handholds on the coach roof make moving around the forward deck easy and safe. Add the separate passageway across the aft of the boat behind the cockpit and you have a boat that can be actively sailed without disturbing people in the main cockpit area.
There are large sliding doors and large windows separating the cockpit from the saloon but when these are open the transition between the two is seamless and creates one large harmonious space. The saloon is very comfortable with a choice of layouts can cater for every taste. The dedicated forward facing Nav station is set to port and the galley and saloon blend into a perfect living area.
Below decks, you have a modern, spacious and well-lit interior and the 541 and 542 are both available with 3, 4 or 5 cabins.
The foam cored, resin-infused hull and deck save weight and there is solid laminate below the waterline to ensure strength where it is most needed. There is a fin on the narrower keels and this together with a lighter displacement hull feeds directly to better sailing and power performance.
Fitted with twin 75hp Volvo Penta diesels and running at 2,000rpm, the 54 will cruise happily at a pretty impressive 7.4 knots. This increases to well over 9 knots at 3000rpm when needed. As you would expect she handles well in tight spaces.
